Whether you are enrolled in Preparing for the ACT, Post-Secondary Education and Career class, Personal Finance, or part of the Work-Based Learning program at GCHS, you will be entering an environment that bridges the gap between graduation and the real world! As money touches every part of our adult lives, few people are taught how to manage it well. In this room, we will throw out confusing jargon and focus on real-world money concepts and career preparation tools so you can design the life you actually want!
In my classroom, students should expect to assess their personal strengths, research various career paths, and develop practical job-readiness skills. These core activities will help students connect their personal interests to future job options. In Personal Finance, I frame lessons around things students care about right now: decoding their first paystubs, understanding the true cost of car ownership, and saving for milestones. We use real-world tools to simulate opening bank accounts, comparing cell phone plans, and identifying online marketplace scams. This makes finance an active survival skill rather than a passive lecture topic.
Meet Mrs. Brady
I am excited to be part of the GCHS family and bring 18 years of teaching experience to the classroom. I hold a Bachelors of Business Administration degree from Middle Tennessee State University and a Masters of Art in Instructional Leadership from Tennessee Technological University. Before teaching I worked at United Technologies Carrier for over 14 years holding multiple positions in training, human resources, and engineering. Outside of school, I love spending time with my husband, Ken, and two daughters, Kennedy and Elliott. I enjoy traveling to new places, going thrifting with my girls, and spending time with our new cavapoo puppy.
My philosophy as an educator is anchored in the belief that academic success is only half the battle; true readiness requires the strategic, practical, and emotional tools to navigate the modern economy. The transition out of high school is one of the most volatile shifts a young person will experience. My mission is to clarify the unseen rules of higher education and the workplace, transforming students into self-directed advocates who can confidently engineer their own paths. It is also to provide students with a preventative financial education before they make major, life-altering financial commitments. By focusing on practical habit formation and emotional awareness, I aim to equip students with the tools to avoid common financial pitfalls and build a secure foundation for their adulthood.
